Description
Historically, spices were some of the most valuable items of trade in the ancient and medieval world. A handful of cardamom was worth as much as a poor man's yearly wages.
According to Wikipedia, spices are defined as ' a dried seed. fruit, root, bark or vegetative substance." A herb is generally classified as a green, leafy part of the plant, and sometimes the flower. The American Spice Trade Association (ASTA) defines spices as ' any dried plant product used primarily for seasoning purposes." Included are tropical aromatic (peppers, cinnamon, cloves etc) leafy herbs (basil, oregano, marjoram, etc), spice seeds (sesame, poppy, mustard etc), and dehydrated vegetables (onion, garlic, etc).
The recommended shelf life for crushed and ground spices are approximately one year, and varies according to oil content.
If possible, store your spices in cold storage (32°F-45°F) is highly recommended. Always keep spices stored away from heat, humidity and exposure to sunlight or florescent lights.
The final key is making sure the container they are in are closed after each use. If, you can smell a spice it means its aroma and flavours are escaping.

Description
Spice Oils and Oleoresins are the concentrated liquid form of the spice and reproduce the character of the respective spice and spice oil fully. They are obtained by the solvent extraction, super critical fluid extraction, or steam distillation of the spices. Oils and oleoresins can be utilized by direct addition, or combined with ground spices to create custom blends, or used as a base for a number of different seasoning products.
Paprika Liquid Oleo #3171 - Paprika oleoresin is an oil-soluble extract from the fruits of Capsicum annuum or Capsicum frutescens, and is primarily used as a colouring and/or flavouring in food products.
